Masks

Masks are available in a large variety of model, colors and styles. The range comprises models with central, side, top and bottom panes. Also the designs of regulating mouthpieces and strap-on constructions are tailored to suit personal preferences.

The latest innovation in mask technology is the full face snorkel mask. It is the ideal solution for people who gag by the idea to have to breath underwater through a tube. It’s an answer of psychological proportions. With the full face snorkel mask you can inhale and exhale as you naturally would above water.

There’s also a beneficial solution for those of us who wear glasses or contact lenses; custom made lenses, tailored to your prescription. Lenses can be specifically created for the mask of your preference. You can even choose from a range of masks, designed to have their lenses removed and changed easily.

Now colors may seem immaterial, but its goes beyond saying that light-colored or neutral colored masks let in more light, hence improving the view of novice divers.

So, what is generally accepted as key elements to make the right choice?

  • Position the mask on your face and look up. Do not strap the mask on, just place it on your face. Now it should sit comfortable and evenly, without gaps
  • Put a snorkel mouthpiece in your mouth. The mask should still sit nicely with no space between skin and material

Done? OK!!

  • Now place the mask on your face again, leaving the straps for what they are. Carefully inhale through your nose to gently create suction. The mask shoudn’t fall off bit remain comfortably rested on your face
  • Now put a mouthpiece in place and repeat the ‘ sniffing drill’

Still OK?

  • You may now go for the straps and ‘secure’ the mask by adjusting them. Not too tight though, because the pocket of the mask shouldn’t touch your nose
  • Now place the regulating piece back in your mouth. Position it in such a manner that you can go for the nose pocket to equalize your ears without interruption.

Ok? Done!
